Cumulus 6 offers many features including ease-of-use and multi-media, communication, internet and presentation capabilities . It supports drag & drop with popular graphics applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, and CorelDRAW. Single User Edition supports Cumulus Options, i.e. Cumulus Viewer, allowing users to make catalogs available on removable media such as CDs and DVDs.
New Features at a Glance :
Enhanced toolbar
Both under Mac OS and Windows Cumulus now has a toolbar with the most important functions such as Quick Search. The toolbar’s layout is similar to that of Canto’s Internet solutions and makes it easy to switch from a native Client application to an Internet application.
Auto Cataloging
A mouse-click on a specific directory category will activate this feature. Any new assets saved to this folder will be cataloged periodically. This feature can be customized to be performed anything from hourly to daily to weekly.
Pre-configured preference sets
The various sections within the customizable preferences such as record view settings, category view settings, asset handling settings and catalog settings, as defined by the user, can now be saved as sets. For example, in the record view settings, a view set defined by an authorized user can be made available on the server to every individual in the Workgroup. This view set can be used when required. All view sets available to a user will be shown in a drop down menu. The user can easily switch between different views.
Super Collection
Multiple catalogs can now be opened in one window. Workgroups with large catalogs can now split them into multiple catalogs and then open and search them in one
window. The time required to repair, restructure or reorganize a catalog is reduced tremendously. Furthermore, if a particular catalog is being repaired of restructured, the assets in the other catalogs will be unaffected and can still be accessed.
Multiple category tabs
Now categories can be created and displayed in separate tabs. The Keyword tab contains the categories created with the intention of organizing assets via keywords. These categories may be created by the user as well as those that were created automatically by Cumulus Filters and AssetStores. The Sources tab will display the automatically created categories that resemble the folder or directory hierarchy in which the assets reside.
Mac OS X
The entire product line is now fully compatible with Mac OS X. In version 6 Cumulus clients and Single User run natively on Apple’s modern platform - a significant enhancement for creative professionals where Mac OS X represents the leading platform.
